MASSAGE THERAPY

Massage Therapy

What is massage therapy exactly? Registered Massage Therapists manipulate the soft tissues of your body — muscle, connective tissue, tendons, ligaments and skin. The massage therapist uses varying degrees of pressure and movement to help reduce stress, lessen pain and muscle tension, increase relaxation and improve immune function.

Myofascial release therapy

During myofascial release therapy the therapist locates myofascial areas that feel stiff and fixed rather than elastic and movable under light manual pressure. The Therapist then uses manual techniques to release these tight areas.

Trigger Point Release Therapy

The Therapist will apply various levels of pressure to muscle knots, and then stretch the affected areas through a complete range of motion to reduce or eliminate the knot and the associated pain.

Petrissage

Petrissage is a massage technique that applies deep pressure to the underlying muscles. Kneading, wringing, skin rolling and pick-up-and-squeeze are the petrissage movements. They are all performed with the padded palmar surface of the hand, the surface of the finger and also the thumbs.

Swedish Massage

Swedish Massage involves the use of hands, forearms or elbows to manipulate the superficial layers of the muscles to improve mental and physical health. Active or passive movement of the joints may also be part of the massage.
